Windows Vista and iTunes

February 5, 2007

I spent some time recently upgrading my laptop from Windows XP to Windows Vista.  While I’ve generally been impressed with the upgrade, there was one annoying problem I faced after my upgrade.  My iTunes software would only play music from CD’s that I ripped into the computer – I was out of luck whenever I tried playing my iTunes store purchases. When I tried to play an iTunes music store file, I would repeatedly be asked for my account information with the following obnoxious dialog box.

The solution is the iTunes Repair Tool for Vista, a free download from Apple that fixes the “permissions” on my computer’s files so they can play properly. Yay!

A couple clicks and I’m good to go again J
