So far, my trip to Nashville / Murfreesboro, Tennessee has been enjoyable. Yesterday I began the day by visiting the Stones River National Battlefield, where one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War was fought at the end of December in 1862. The quality of this National Park was outstanding; it was obvious that care was taken to maintain the facility and to allow an enjoyable, self-paced experience around the field.  I also saw the Oaklands Mansion and Canonsburgh Village, rounding out my historical “field trip” around Murfreesboro for the day.
